Introducing Compost4Education

Welcome to Compost4Education. This blog is a part of an environmental grant from Living to Serve.

This program is a team effort by the Frederick County Career & Technology Center (CTC). The Welding/Ag Metals program will fabricate the composting barrels and sifters, the Culinary Arts program will contribute and track the food waste, and the Landscaping program will contribute the yard clipping and debris. The Landscaping students will also be responsible for turning the composting barrels and for monitoring the PH and moisture levels to ensure healthy composting material is being produced in a timely manner. And as we are sure to come across some A/V issues, the TV Multi-media program will jump in and help us out too.

The blog is a way for us to share our photos, videos, ideas, issues, questions, and trials as we go through this particular journey for the first time as a group here at CTC. Our goal is to produce some quality compost, to save space in the local landfill, to reduce the cost of trash removal for the school system, and to educate our students and our community members on composting through this blog.

Check back often to follow our progress.
